Built for Businesses That Can't Afford Security Failures
Kraken Security is a Calgary-based electronic security systems company built around one idea: commercial and industrial clients deserve technicians who actually know what they’re doing, and a company that picks up the phone when something matters.
Who We Are
Kraken Security supplies, installs, programs, and services electronic security systems for commercial and industrial properties across Calgary, Airdrie, Chestermere, Strathmore, Okotoks, Bragg Creek, Balzac, and Cochrane. Our core services include CCTV video surveillance, access control systems, intrusion alarm systems, video entry and intercom systems, structured cabling, and cloud network monitoring.
We made a deliberate choice early on to focus exclusively on commercial and industrial work. We don’t take on residential jobs, and we don’t try to be everything to everyone. That focus means our entire operation — from how we scope a project to how we train technicians to how we handle service calls — is built around the realities businesses actually face: uptime requirements, liability concerns, multi-stakeholder decision-making, and the expectation that a system installed today still needs to work flawlessly five years from now.

Why We Exist
Here’s an uncomfortable truth about the security systems industry in Alberta: there is no licensing requirement to install electronic security systems. None. That means a technician working on your building’s access control system or camera network may have no formal training, no certification, and no oversight verifying they know what they’re doing.
This isn’t a hypothetical concern. It’s one of the biggest reasons commercial security installations fail, underperform, or create liability problems down the road — not because the equipment is bad, but because the person installing it didn’t know how to configure it properly, run cable correctly, or think through how the system would actually be used.
Kraken Security was built in direct response to that gap. We don’t wait for an external body to tell us our technicians are competent. We train them ourselves, evaluate them ourselves, and hold them to standards that go well beyond what’s legally required — because our clients are trusting us with the physical security of their buildings, their people, and their operations.
How We Work
We answer our phones. This sounds basic, but in this industry, it isn’t. Most of our new business comes through referrals — clients who’ve worked with us before, or who heard about us from someone who did. The second most common way clients reach us is by picking up the phone directly. We treat every call as the start of a relationship, not an interruption.
We train before we deploy. Every technician completes structured training and is evaluated before being sent to a client site to work independently. We’d rather slow down our hiring pipeline than send an unprepared technician to a job that affects someone’s livelihood.
We design for how the system will actually be used. A security system is only as good as how well it fits the property and the people using it. We talk to property managers, building owners, and operations teams to understand not just what equipment they need, but how staff, tenants, and visitors will interact with the system day to day.
We build systems that talk to each other. Cameras, access control, and alarms work best when they’re integrated rather than siloed. We design systems where these components share information, so a triggered alarm can pull up the right camera feed automatically, and access logs can be cross-referenced with video when something needs to be investigated.

What We've Built
We’d rather show you than tell you. A few projects that reflect the scale and complexity of work we take on:
A 34-Story High-Rise Touch-Screen Intercom System
We designed and installed a touch-screen video intercom system for a 34-story residential high-rise in Calgary, with full integration into the building's elevator system — allowing visitors to be granted access directly to the correct floor from the intercom panel.
A 6-Building, 66-Camera Surveillance Network
For a multi-building commercial property, we deployed a surveillance system spanning 66 cameras across six buildings, supported by six recording units. The project included dedicated elevator cameras and wireless bridges installed in garbage rooms to extend network coverage to areas that are typically difficult to wire.
An 18-Door Access Control & Alarm System for an Oilfield Services Company
We installed a fully integrated access control and intrusion alarm system for an oilfield services company, covering 18 access-controlled doors and a building-wide alarm system monitoring more than 90 individual inputs — giving the client complete visibility over a complex industrial site. These projects share a common thread: they required technicians who could think through complex building infrastructure, not just mount a camera and call it done.

The Problems We Solve
Peace of mind through system monitoring.
Knowing your property is being monitored — and that you’ll be alerted immediately if something happens — removes a significant amount of background stress for property owners and managers.
Accountability and proof.
Video and access records mean you know who entered your building and when, with footage to back it up if a dispute or incident ever needs to be reviewed.
Transparency, not prevention.
We’re upfront that access control and video surveillance are passive security tools. They won’t physically stop a determined intruder, but they create transparency that deters bad behavior and supports investigations after the fact.
Time saved on access management.
Automated access control means you’re not manually managing who can enter your building, rekeying locks, or tracking down lost keys.
Immediate awareness.
Automation and real-time alerts mean you find out about a problem the moment it happens — not hours or days later when someone happens to check.

FAQ's
Frequently asked questions
Kraken Security has been serving Calgary’s commercial and industrial sector, building a track record on complex projects ranging from high-rise intercom systems to large-scale industrial access control deployments.
Do you only work in Calgary?
Calgary is our primary service area, and we also serve Airdrie, Chestermere, Strathmore, Okotoks, Bragg Creek, Balzac, and Cochrane.
What kind of properties do you typically work on?
Office buildings, multi-tenant and condominium buildings, industrial sites, and oilfield and resource services facilities. We do not take on residential projects.
Are your technicians certified or licensed?
There’s no provincial licensing requirement for this trade, so certifications vary across the industry. We address this by requiring all technicians to complete internal training and evaluation before working independently on client systems.
How do most clients find you?
Most of our clients come through referrals from past customers, followed by direct phone calls and a smaller number of website inquiries.
Can you take over maintenance of a system another company installed?
In many cases, yes. Reach out with details about your existing system and we can assess whether we’re able to service or upgrade it.
